On April 29, CNBC reported that Cameron Stanley, the AI lead at the U.S. Department of Defense, verified that the department is broadening its utilization of Google's Gemini AI model. Roughly two months prior, the Department of Defense had flagged Anthropic as a supply chain risk and consequently ended its collaboration. Earlier, Google had inked an agreement with the Department of Defense to employ AI for classified tasks. The department is also working together with suppliers like OpenAI to upgrade its operational capabilities.
