Recently, a video showcasing a robot directing traffic has garnered tens of thousands of likes on a short-video platform. The police in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, have confirmed that the city is pioneering the integration of robots into traffic management, with two robot traffic police already deployed on the streets. These robots are tasked with executing standard traffic command gestures (Note: retained as pinyin for specificity, meaning "directing/conducting"), deterring traffic violations, and responding to public inquiries. The initiative aims to harness robotic technology to alleviate the workload and boost the efficiency of frontline police officers. This project has been developed in collaboration with local enterprises, leveraging the region's industrial strengths. Presently, the robot traffic police boast a range of practical functions but are still undergoing refinement and optimization, lacking the ability to provide real-time and flexible command (Note: retained as pinyin, meaning "command/direction"). The current emphasis is on enhancing stability, with continuous testing and iterations planned for the future. Furthermore, Wuxi Public Security has also deployed robot dogs for high-risk operations.
