On April 16, the European Commission issued preliminary findings to Alphabet, Google's parent company, requiring it to open its core search data, including ranking, query, click, and browsing data, to competitors and AI chatbots in accordance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This move aims to break Google's dominant market position and ensure that third-party search engines and AI providers have equal access to data. The proposed measures include eligibility for data beneficiaries, scope of sharing, methods, anonymization measures, etc. The European Commission will make a final decision by July 27.
