Reports indicate that on April 14, Tesla Inc. disclosed its consideration of manufacturing humanoid robots at its Shanghai Gigafactory. This factory has been in the business of producing electric vehicles since 2019 and is set to embark on large-scale energy storage battery production in 2025. Now, with an eye on sustaining growth in the Chinese market, Tesla plans to diversify its manufacturing portfolio by including humanoid robots. A Tesla vice president emphasized that the Shanghai Gigafactory will serve as a pivotal production hub and make substantial contributions to the robotics industry. While Tesla has yet to unveil specifics such as the production start date and scale, certain securities firms report that the ambition is to reach an annual production capacity of 100,000 units by the end of 2026.
