GitHub has made an announcement stating that, commencing on April 10, 2026, it will halt the acceptance of new applications for the free trial of Copilot Pro. However, users who have already initiated their free trials will be permitted to continue using the service until their trial period concludes. This strategic move is designed to curb misuse and safeguard the experience of developers who adhere to the guidelines. The free trials are set to recommence once additional protective measures have been established. In the meantime, GitHub has instituted capacity constraints for official subscribers of Copilot Pro. These constraints encompass limitations on the overall reliability of the service and the utilization of specific models. Once these capacity thresholds are reached, a waiting period will be enforced before the limits can be reset.
