Social media company Snap announced that it will lay off approximately 1,000 full-time employees, accounting for 16% of its global workforce, and close over 300 open positions in pursuit of profitability goals. The company expects this move to reduce its annualized cost base by over $500 million by the second half of 2026. Additionally, Snap's newly established XR subsidiary, Specs, has partnered with Qualcomm to launch AR glasses.
