On April 15, 2026, World Labs, led by Fei-Fei Li's team, officially open-sourced Spark 2.0, a dynamic 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) renderer. Designed specifically for web applications, this engine is built on Three.js and WebGL2 technologies, enabling smooth rendering of ultra-large-scale 3D scenes on desktops, iOS, Android, and VR devices. Spark 2.0 introduces a new Level of Detail (LoD) system, employing a continuous LoD approach that dynamically selects splats through an LoD splat tree, ensuring stable rendering of millions of splats. Additionally, it introduces the .RAD file format, supporting progressive streaming for efficient data compression and random access. Furthermore, Spark 2.0 utilizes virtual memory management techniques, enabling access to an infinite world of splats through a fixed GPU memory pool and page table mapping.
