Having poured billions of dollars into the metaverse initiative with little to show for it, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is now wholeheartedly steering the company towards an AI-centric approach. According to internal documents recently unveiled by Business Insider, Zuckerberg has set forth strict criteria for AI utilization, compelling the entire organization to embrace AI tools. The Central Product Division demands that 80% of mid-to-senior engineers utilize general AI tools, with 55% of code alterations being AI-aided; the Creative Division requires 65% of engineers to employ AI for writing over 75% of the code they submit. To facilitate this shift, Meta has not only introduced an internal dashboard for real-time tracking of AI usage but also integrated the application of AI tools into performance reviews, with certain departments setting AI usage rate goals as high as 75%. Moreover, Zuckerberg's personally supervised trial of a CEO AI avatar has been rolled out. Powered by Meta's cutting-edge LLaMA 4 large language model, this avatar is capable of managing routine emails, drafting meeting minutes, participating in non-essential business decisions, and even representing him at industry gatherings. This initiative has stirred up internal debate, with some staff members worrying that the widespread adoption of AI might result in job cuts, whereas Zuckerberg stresses that AI is meant to augment human capabilities, not supplant them.
