On March 27, 2026, Google's AI assistant, Gemini, officially rolled out its memory import functionality. This new feature empowers users to swiftly transfer their conversation histories and personal preferences from other AI platforms to Gemini. As a result, users no longer need to go through the tedious process of retraining the AI to align with their habits when switching platforms.

This update provides users with two convenient import methods. The first method is prompt copying and migration. Users can copy the prompts to generate preference summaries in their original AI platform and then simply paste them back into Gemini for seamless synchronization. The second approach is the bulk import of conversation data. Users have the option to upload chat history packages in ZIP format (with a maximum size of 5GB) to achieve a comprehensive migration.

This innovative feature effectively tackles a major pain point for users when transitioning between AI platforms. It enables Gemini to rapidly adapt to users' specific usage scenarios. For instance, users can effortlessly continue their unfinished creative projects or maintain their unique communication styles. At the same time, Google places a strong emphasis on data security. Users are granted the flexibility to manage or delete imported conversation records at their convenience, whenever they wish.
