Multiple media outlets have reported that artificial intelligence firm OpenAI has opted to discontinue its short video-generating app, Sora. Consequently, The Walt Disney Company has called off its proposed $1 billion investment. The deal, which was in advanced negotiations, encompassed a licensing agreement that would have permitted Sora to utilize more than 200 Disney characters. Amid Disney's quest to discover novel distribution avenues for its brand, this agreement would have provided OpenAI with extensive access to a treasure trove of entertainment intellectual property. Nevertheless, with Sora's discontinuation, this partnership has also reached its conclusion.
