According to the latest data from OpenRouter—the world’s largest API aggregation platform for AI models—as of March 15, China’s AI large models have achieved a remarkable milestone, processing 4.69 trillion tokens in weekly API calls. This figure not only places China ahead of the United States for two consecutive weeks but also positions all three of the top-performing global models as Chinese. Furthermore, JPMorgan analysts project that from 2025 to 2030, China’s AI inference token consumption will surge from roughly 1,000 quadrillion to approximately 3,900 quadrillion, representing an extraordinary 370-fold increase over the five-year span.
