According to two sources with inside knowledge, ByteDance has decided to postpone the global launch of its newest video generation model, Seedance 2.0. This decision comes in the wake of a series of copyright disputes with prominent Hollywood studios and streaming services. Launched officially in February of this year, Seedance 2.0 is designed specifically for professional film and television production, among other areas, with the goal of reducing content creation costs. While it has garnered acclaim from leaders in the tech industry, it has also become embroiled in copyright controversies.

Last month, major U.S. film companies, including Disney, threatened to take legal action against ByteDance. In response, ByteDance announced that it would implement measures to ensure the model does not utilize intellectual property without proper authorization. The global launch of Seedance 2.0, initially scheduled for mid-March, has now been put on hold. ByteDance's legal team is currently working to resolve potential legal issues, while engineers are enhancing security protocols to prevent unauthorized use of copyrighted material.

Disney has accused ByteDance of training and operating the model using its characters without permission. The company alleges that Seedance 2.0 is equipped with a pirated database and exploits copyrighted characters as publicly available material, further intensifying the dispute.
