On the 13th, the EU Council finalized an agreement concerning a proposal aimed at streamlining specific regulatory rules for artificial intelligence (AI). This proposal forms a crucial component of the 'Comprehensive Simplification Package,' which encompasses several modifications to the Artificial Intelligence Act. These changes include delaying the implementation timeline for regulatory measures concerning high-risk AI systems, broadening the scope of regulatory exemptions available to enterprises, and enhancing the authority of the Commission's AI Office.

Furthermore, the proposal introduces novel stipulations that explicitly forbid the utilization of AI technology in the creation of sexual content without consent, private content, and materials depicting child sexual abuse. Moving forward, the presidency, which rotates among member states, will commence negotiations with the European Parliament to facilitate the next phase of the legislative process. The Artificial Intelligence Act is slated to come into force on August 1, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the EU's efforts to regulate AI technology.
