Recently, Silicon Valley venture capital firm a16z unveiled the sixth iteration of its 'Top 100 Generative AI Consumer Applications' list. This list, which has been updated biannually since 2020, ranks applications according to key metrics like SimilarWeb webpage visits and Sensor Tower mobile Monthly Active Users (MAU). It offers a snapshot of the worldwide competitive environment for AI applications. Notably, this edition is the first to incorporate traditional consumer products where generative AI forms the core user experience. It also features separate rankings for the top 50 web-based and mobile applications.

Chinese companies shone brightly on this list. DeepSeek, in particular, achieved fourth place globally among web-based applications, making it the highest-ranked Chinese AI application. Furthermore, several products with Chinese team backgrounds also made the list, such as Kimi, Qwen, and Kling AI. In the mobile application category, apps like Doubao, Baidu AI Search, and QQ Browser secured prominent positions. Meanwhile, Meitu Inc. had four of its applications—Meitu, BeautyCam, Wink, and BeautyPlus—included in the list as well.

Chinese AI applications have made remarkable strides in global expansion. They cover a wide range of sectors, including general-purpose dialogue, vertical tools, and creative generation. Their application deployment capabilities have emerged as a core competitive advantage. Currently, the global AI consumer market is witnessing the formation of three relatively independent ecosystems centered around Europe and the United States, China, and Russia.
