On March 10, Bloomberg reported that following the lawsuit filed by the US AI firm Anthropic against the US government regarding the assessment of “supply chain risks,” senior officials from the US Department of Defense (DoD) have made it clear that there is little to no chance of the two sides reopening negotiations on the military application of Anthropic’s AI tools. Earlier, the two parties had been at odds over restrictions on the military use of the AI model Claude. The US government insisted on unrestricted access, while Anthropic maintained that the technology should not be employed for fully autonomous weapons or extensive surveillance operations.
