This Tuesday, the 'OpenClaw Official Weibo' account, verified as 'OpenClaw Open Source Community,' posted its first update, drawing attention from China's tech sector and being interpreted by some media as a sign of OpenClaw's entry into the Chinese market. However, project founder Peter Steinberg responded that the Weibo account and related accounts on platforms like Bilibili are not officially owned, emphasizing that any social media pages labeled 'official' without account ownership are counterfeit. OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent project established in late 2025, rapidly gained popularity in the global developer community starting in early 2026. The controversy over genuine and fake accounts highlights the project's high level of attention in the Chinese market. Previously, cloud service providers have debunked rumors about offering 'on-site installation' services, and Steinberg has also reminded the public to be vigilant against cryptocurrency scams.
