OpenAI is contemplating forging an agreement with NATO, aiming to deploy its cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology across NATO's "unclassified" networks. Initially, OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, had expressed the ambition to extend the technology's reach to all classified networks within NATO. However, a spokesperson for the company subsequently clarified that the envisioned contract would be confined to "unclassified networks" only. Just last week, OpenAI made headlines by announcing a significant pact with the U.S. Department of Defense, which will see its technology implemented on the Pentagon's classified networks. Prior to this, former President Trump had issued directives to government agencies, instructing them to halt collaborations with Anthropic, a rival of OpenAI.
