On March 3, Reuters reported that the US Treasury Department, the State Department, and federal housing agencies are in the process of fully discontinuing their use of Anthropic’s products, transitioning instead to OpenAI’s technology. This move follows a directive from the Trump administration instructing government agencies to phase out Anthropic’s technology, including its Claude chatbot. The Pentagon went a step further by identifying Anthropic as a potential supply chain risk. Moreover, on Friday evening of last week, OpenAI announced that it had reached an agreement with the US Department of Defense to integrate its technology into the department’s classified networks.
