According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is poised to debut a new Core AI framework at the upcoming WWDC 26 developer conference. This move is intended to gradually phase out the current Core ML framework, although an immediate, full-scale replacement is not anticipated. Instead, the June event might simply feature a rebranding exercise. The Core AI framework is designed to streamline the integration of third-party AI models for developers, though the precise approach to achieving this remains ambiguous, with MCP emerging as a potential strategy. Earlier speculations suggested that Apple's iOS 27 would be devoid of any novel features, yet Apple might still surprise attendees at WWDC 26 by announcing Apple Intelligence, which is trained using Google's Gemini technology.
