On February 27 (local time), Amazon Web Services (AWS) and OpenAI announced a multi-year strategic partnership. Amazon will invest $50 billion in OpenAI, with an initial investment of $15 billion and the remaining $35 billion to be added over the coming months after specific conditions are met. The two parties are jointly developing a 'stateful runtime environment' that will allow AI agents to retain contextual information and access computing resources, supporting multi-step reasoning for complex tasks and interaction with external systems. This environment is expected to be officially launched in the coming months and will be made available to customers through Amazon Bedrock for building production-scale generative AI applications and agents.
