On February 27, Bloomberg reported that the U.S. AI company Anthropic had rejected the latest proposal from the Department of Defense. Previously, the Department of Defense had demanded that Anthropic allow the military unrestricted use of its AI large model, Claude, and had set a deadline, threatening to take severe measures, including canceling contracts and listing the company as a supply chain risk enterprise, if Anthropic did not comply. Anthropic insists on establishing safety assurance mechanisms and refuses to allow the military to use its technology for large-scale surveillance and fully autonomous weapon systems.
