On February 27, 2026, Figma officially announced that Codex now supports generating and synchronizing Figma design files through the Figma MCP server, enabling seamless bidirectional flow between code and design. Development teams can import real, running user interfaces into the Figma canvas for collaborative optimization, and bring the updated design context back to Codex in its entirety, ensuring a high degree of alignment between development and design. This feature is based on the MCP server architecture and supports extracting layout, style, and component information from Figma Design, Figma Make, and FigJam for Codex to utilize. Users can copy a Figma frame link and initiate a command in Codex to automatically generate code, or conversely, convert locally or online running UI interfaces into editable Figma frames with a single click, eliminating the need for manual reconstruction. This process supports full-screen or element-level capture and automatically creates or updates design files. The deep integration between the two significantly enhances development efficiency and collaboration quality from prototyping to production-grade applications.
