A spokesperson from OpenAI announced that the company has successfully recruited Pang Ruoming, who previously headed Apple's AI foundational model team. Pang Ruoming departed from Apple and joined Meta roughly seven months in the past. Following months of vigorous recruitment efforts by OpenAI, he bid farewell to Meta last week to become a part of OpenAI. At Meta's Superintelligence Lab, Pang Ruoming was in charge of AI infrastructure endeavors. Last year, he came on board at Meta with a multi-year compensation deal worth over $200 million. While at Apple, he spearheaded a team of around 100 individuals in the development of large language models.
