Meta confirmed on Thursday that it is testing a standalone app for Vibes. Since its launch in September last year, users have been able to create and share AI-generated short videos, as well as browse others' works in a dedicated feed. Vibes is similar to the Stories feature on TikTok or Instagram, but all videos are generated by AI. Previously, this feed feature was only embedded within the Meta AI app. By making it standalone, Meta aims to position it as a direct competitor to OpenAI's AI-generated video social app, Sora, which was launched shortly after Vibes.
