On January 31st, sources with inside knowledge disclosed that Nvidia (NVDA.O) initially had grand plans to pour up to $100 billion into OpenAI. The investment was aimed at bolstering OpenAI's efforts in training and running the latest artificial intelligence models. However, this ambitious initiative has now hit a roadblock. Earlier, there were voices of skepticism within Nvidia regarding this collaboration. Back in September of the previous year, the two tech giants made a public announcement about this colossal deal at Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California. During this event, they also signed a memorandum of understanding. As per the terms of the agreement, Nvidia committed to constructing computing power facilities with a capacity of at least 10 gigawatts for OpenAI. Additionally, the company pledged to invest up to $100 billion to foot the bills for various related costs. In a reciprocal move, OpenAI consented to lease chips from Nvidia.
