On the morning of January 29th, the three co-founders of Moonshot AI—Yang Zhilin, the CEO; Zhou Xinyu, the head of algorithms; and Wu Yuxin—hosted a three-hour AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on the Reddit forum. During this session, they fielded inquiries from netizens around the globe, covering topics like the Kimi K2.5 model, the prospects of Kimi K3, and prevailing trends in the AI industry.
Yang Zhilin clarified that the reason K2.5 self-identified as Claude stemmed from adjustments made to its pre-training data, rather than being a distilled version of Claude. He also highlighted that K2.5 surpassed Claude in several benchmark tests. As for K3, he divulged that it would undergo further architectural refinements, drawing inspiration from Kimi Linear, which would lead to a substantial performance boost. Moreover, the team shared their insights on the disparity in computational power, the spirit of innovation, model training methodologies, and other pertinent issues.
