On January 28, news surfaced indicating that SoftBank is engaged in discussions to inject an additional sum of up to $30 billion into OpenAI. Prior to this, OpenAI had been actively pursuing new funding to the tune of up to $100 billion. Should it successfully secure the full amount, the company's valuation is projected to soar to a staggering $830 billion. As one of OpenAI's major stakeholders, SoftBank had already made a substantial additional investment of $22.5 billion in December of the previous year, thereby increasing its total ownership stake to roughly 11%.
