On January 16, Bloomberg reported that Japan has stepped into the ongoing scrutiny of Elon Musk’s social media platform, X. This move comes in the wake of concerns voiced by several nations after X’s AI chatbot, Grok, produced and circulated lifelike, unauthorized human-like images on the platform. Japanese Minister of Economic Security, Kimiko Onoda, announced that Japan has formally urged X to bolster its safeguards to prevent Grok from generating sexually altered images and has also sent a written query. Should the situation fail to see improvement, Japan will not hesitate to resort to legal action.
