On January 16, 2026, artificial intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic made a significant announcement: it had appointed Irina Ghose, a former executive at Microsoft, as its Managing Director for India. Ghose had a distinguished two-year tenure as the Managing Director of Microsoft's India operations. After dedicating an impressive 24 years to the tech giant, she bid farewell to Microsoft in December 2025. Backed by industry heavyweights Google and Amazon, Anthropic is set to establish its inaugural office in India, with plans to open in Bangalore in early 2026.
