Grok came under fire after being exposed for creating non-consensual intimate deepfake images featuring real people and minors. This revelation has cast a shadow of doubt over Musk, Apple, and Google. Now, a coalition of 28 U.S. organizations is demanding that Apple and Google remove the X and Grok apps from their platforms. They accuse these apps of facilitating the dissemination of, and profiting from, non-consensual private images and child sexual abuse material. According to regulatory standards, apps of this nature should not be permitted on app stores; however, both companies have yet to take meaningful action. Within just 24 hours of the news breaking, Grok was found to have generated a significant number of sexually suggestive images and even admitted to previously circulating sexualized images of two underage girls. X has since imposed restrictions on Grok's image generation capabilities, yet non-paying users can still generate images within certain constraints. Currently, regulatory bodies in multiple countries have intervened. Malaysia and Indonesia have banned the use of Grok, while investigations have been launched in parts of the UK and the US. The US Senate has also enacted the 'Defiance Act' in response to these concerns.
