On January 12, 2026, AI startup Anthropic announced its collaboration with biopharmaceutical companies such as Sanofi and Novo Nordisk to officially launch the HIPAA-compliant AI tool 'Claude for Healthcare' designed specifically for the healthcare sector. Built on the latest Claude Opus 4.5 model, this tool integrates medical records, wearable device data, and insurance records to provide pre-authorization, clinical trial tools, and personalized health management services. Its features include access to the CMS coverage database, ICD-10 coding system, support for FHIR development and pre-authorization review, and it is already available to users of subscription plans such as Claude Pro and Max. Over 22,000 clinical providers at Banner Health, a U.S. non-profit healthcare institution, are already using this tool.
