On January 13, Apple and Google jointly made public a multi-year cooperation pact. According to this agreement, Apple is set to leverage Google's Gemini model to drive its next-generation foundational model. This will provide support for the upcoming 'Apple Intelligence' features and the personalized Siri, which is scheduled to debut this year.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from TF International Securities, highlighted that Apple's decision to collaborate was prompted by short-term challenges and pressures. These include the imperative to deliver a flawless AI demonstration at this year's WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), a highly anticipated event in the tech world. Additionally, there are escalating user expectations for cloud-based AI services. Despite this partnership, Apple is still in the process of constructing a 'multi-model supplier' framework. This strategic move aims to prevent over-dependence on any single entity, ensuring flexibility and resilience in its AI endeavors.
