On January 12, 2026, news emerged that Independent Variable Robotics, a company specializing in embodied intelligence, recently closed an A++ round of financing amounting to 1 billion RMB. This round saw joint investment from top-tier investment institutions, including ByteDance, Sequoia China, the Beijing Information Industry Development Fund, Shenzhen Capital Group, and a number of local investment platforms. Notably, this investment represents the inaugural deal by Shenzhen Capital Group's AI fund since its inception. Prior to this, Independent Variable Robotics had already garnered investments from Meituan and Alibaba. As a result, it stands as the sole embodied intelligence enterprise in China that has successfully attracted investments from all three of these leading internet giants.
