During a press conference on the 8th, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) provided insights into the ongoing review of Meta's acquisition of the AI platform Manus. Spokesperson He Yadong emphasized that the Chinese government encourages enterprises to engage in cross-border business ventures and technological collaborations, provided they strictly adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks. He underscored that any foreign investment or technology export activities by enterprises must be conducted in full compliance with Chinese laws and regulations, and all necessary statutory procedures must be duly followed. MOFCOM will work in tandem with relevant government departments to thoroughly evaluate and investigate whether this acquisition aligns with regulations pertaining to export controls, technology import and export, as well as other pertinent laws.
