Recently, Beijing played host to two significant events in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI) standardization: the 2025 Annual Plenary Session of the Artificial Intelligence Standardization Technical Committee, under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the concurrent 'Standards Week' gathering.
During these meetings, two groundbreaking achievements were officially unveiled: the Global Artificial Intelligence Standard Library and the Global Artificial Intelligence Terminology Database. The Global Artificial Intelligence Standard Library is a comprehensive repository, systematically encompassing over 220 national and industry standards pertinent to AI in China. Moreover, it aggregates an extensive collection of over 840 project initiation information items from esteemed international standardization bodies, including the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This integration effectively consolidates mainstream global AI standard information into a single, accessible platform.
Meanwhile, the Global Artificial Intelligence Terminology Database is a treasure trove of knowledge, housing over 1,200 terms related to artificial intelligence. By establishing a unified and standardized terminology system, it serves as an authoritative reference point, providing a solid foundation for the accurate and consistent writing of AI standards.
The unveiling of these achievements is a testament to China's remarkable progress in the field of AI standardization. It signifies a pivotal shift from a position of 'following' international norms to one of 'leading' the charge, actively contributing to the creation of a new, open, collaborative, intelligent, and efficient standardization ecosystem.
