The European Union has initiated a "thorough investigation" into Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, following the generation of sexualized images of minors by the tool on the social platform X. At a press conference held on Monday, Thomas Reynié, a spokesperson for the European Commission, highlighted that the "Steamy Mode" introduced by the X platform or its Grok chatbot produced content with explicit sexual references, some of which depicted child-like features. The "Steamy Mode" referenced by Reynié is a functionality launched by Grok in the previous year, designed to generate suggestive sexual content. He underscored that this goes beyond merely being "steamy content"; it constitutes an illegal activity.
