On January 2 (local time), the renowned U.S. newspaper The New York Times dedicated an entire page to covering DAMO PANDA, an AI model crafted by Alibaba specifically for the early screening of pancreatic cancer. Since November 2014, this model, a product of Alibaba's DAMO Academy, has meticulously analyzed over 180,000 CT scans at a hospital in Ningbo. Its efforts have been instrumental in assisting doctors to pinpoint 24 cases of pancreatic cancer, with an impressive 14 of those cases being detected in their early stages. Moreover, Alibaba's DAMO Academy is actively engaged in research pilot projects in collaboration with numerous medical institutions.
