On December 31st, Business Insider reported that amidst a surge of deals in the AI sector, social media giant Meta announced its acquisition of Singaporean AI startup Manus. Manus gained popularity in March this year after previewing an AI agent capable of autonomously performing tasks such as resume screening and stock analysis. The company was initially founded in China and relocated to Singapore in mid-2025. According to The Wall Street Journal, Meta paid over US$2 billion (approximately RMB 14 billion) for this acquisition.
