On December 31, sources familiar with the matter revealed that the daily active user count for Dola, an overseas AI assistant application developed by ByteDance, has surpassed the 10 million mark. This product stands out with its capabilities in conversational Q&A, writing, translation, and image generation. In its Google Play app description, Dola is positioned as a comprehensive, one-stop assistant designed to aid in writing, thinking, and creating tasks. Interface News reached out to ByteDance for confirmation on this development but had not received a reply by the time of publication. According to reports, Dola was initially launched as Cici in August 2023, primarily targeting emerging markets including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Latin America. It underwent a rebranding to Dola at the end of 2025. Since the latter half of this year, Dola has witnessed remarkable growth in regions such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, and beyond. Starting from October, it has consistently ranked within the top 20 free app downloads in the Google App Store across several countries, even securing the top position for daily downloads on Google Play in the Mexican market for an entire week.
Previously, ByteDance's AI assistant product, Doubao, had already achieved a milestone by surpassing 100 million daily active users, establishing itself as the first independent AI application in China to reach such a significant user base.
