Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, dissatisfied with the AI assistant Copilot's performance, has taken it upon himself to step in and address the issues. Several weeks ago, he highlighted problems in Copilot's integration with Gmail and Outlook, pointing out that its intelligence level required enhancement. This wasn't the first instance of him voicing such concerns. In September, Nadella declared that he would delegate some of his responsibilities to concentrate on the advancement of AI products. Presently, he is deeply engaged in technical tasks, actively participating in internal Teams channels where he posts critiques, poses questions, and issues instructions. He also directly forwards bug reports to the product team.
Nadella is of the opinion that the AI capabilities integrated into Office 365 have not yet fulfilled their anticipated potential. To tackle these technical deficiencies, he is proactively seeking out talented individuals and prioritizing collaborations with AI developers. During internal meetings, he reminds employees of Microsoft's previous strategic blunders and underscores the significance of the current juncture in shaping the company's future trajectory. The problems with Copilot, coupled with the company's ambiguous statements regarding business metrics, have also fueled external skepticism about its actual performance contributions.
