On December 24, Reuters reported that according to several sources with insider knowledge, NVIDIA has informed its Chinese customers of its intention to deliver the H200, its second-most powerful AI chip, by mid-February of the coming year, right before the Chinese Lunar New Year. Two of the sources mentioned that NVIDIA plans to use its existing stock to fulfill the initial orders, with an anticipated total shipment quantity of 5,000 to 10,000 chip modules. This translates to roughly 40,000 to 80,000 individual H200 chips. Nevertheless, Reuters highlighted that there remains considerable uncertainty surrounding the uninterrupted delivery of the H200 chips, given that the Chinese authorities have not yet approved any purchase orders.
