Google had initially intended to substitute Google Assistant with Gemini on the majority of Android phones by the end of 2025. However, Google has now declared that additional time is required to establish Gemini as the default digital assistant for most users. Consequently, the transition from Google Assistant to Gemini on Android devices will be prolonged into the following year, with the company promising to unveil further details in the "coming months." Ever since Google introduced Gemini and integrated Google Assistant's capabilities into it, there have been speculations that Google Assistant would gradually phase out of the market. During the launch of the Pixel 9 series phones in 2024, Google had already designated Gemini as the default assistant and was actively promoting its comprehensive product reach. For the upgrade to be implemented, devices must be running at least Android 10 and possess a minimum of 2GB of memory.
