On December 17, 2025, Yao Shunyu, aged 27, was appointed as the Chief AI Scientist in Tencent's 'CEO/President Office,' reporting directly to Tencent President Martin Lau. He also concurrently serves as the head of the AI Infra Department and the Large Language Model Department, reporting to Lu Shan, President of the Technology and Engineering Group. On the same day, Tencent upgraded its large model R&D architecture by establishing new departments: the AI Infra Department, the AI Data Department, and the Data Computing Platform Department. The AI Infra Department is responsible for building the technical capabilities of the large model training and inference platforms. The AI Data Department is in charge of constructing the large model data and evaluation systems. The Data Computing Platform Department focuses on developing the data intelligence integration platform for big data and machine learning. This restructuring aims to comprehensively strengthen Tencent's R&D system and core capabilities for large models.
