On this Wednesday, Amazon officially announced that Rohit Prasad, a top-tier executive overseeing its Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) sector, is set to depart from the company by the year's end. In a blog update, Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, disclosed that, as part of a strategic workforce realignment, the company will restructure its AGI unit, folding it into a newly formed department. This revamped division will encompass not only AGI but also the chip R&D and quantum computing divisions. The helm of this new entity will be taken by Peter DeSantis, Amazon's Senior Vice President for cloud computing, a veteran who has been with the company for 27 years.
