OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity are vying for AI users in India. To attract price-sensitive users, Google has been offering a free 18-month subscription to its $400 Gemini AI Pro service to 500 million users of Reliance Jio, India's largest telecom operator, since November. OpenAI has also made its ChatGPT Go plan available for free for one year, offering extended usage time compared to existing plans, though not unlimited. Meanwhile, Perplexity is providing a free one-year subscription to its Pro tool for users of Indian telecom company Airtel, which is priced at $200 annually worldwide.
