Recently, Jin Xiaohu, Managing Partner at GSR Ventures, shared his insights on the program An Unfinished Promise, asserting that China’s open-source AI ecosystem is set to outpace global competitors in the years ahead. While acknowledging short-term uncertainties over the next one to two years, Jin emphasized that, when viewed through a longer-term lens—specifically within the next five to ten years—China’s open-source AI ecosystem will establish a substantial competitive edge.
Jin further elaborated that within a decade, China’s AI advancements are likely to surpass those of the United States, citing potential bottlenecks in the U.S., particularly concerning data center capacity and electricity supply, which may struggle to keep pace with the rapid growth of AI development.
