On Wednesday, the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Exim Bank) revealed its plan to roll out a sweeping financial aid initiative—dubbed the AX Program—starting next month. Under this program, the bank will allocate 20 trillion won (roughly US$13.6 billion) to bolster the artificial intelligence (AI) sector over the forthcoming five-year period. The AX Program encompasses a range of support mechanisms, such as offering preferential interest rates to AI-related enterprises, channeling investments into cutting-edge strategic industries, and implementing tailored support measures for startups. Moreover, Exim Bank has forged collaboration pacts with three prominent AI-focused firms—LS Electric, LG Innotek, and HD Hyundai Robotics. These agreements aim to boost the export of AI products and foster international project partnerships by leveraging customized financial tools.
