On Tuesday (local time), in response to the tensions arising from the interaction between AI agent tools and the interconnected internet ecosystem, a group of prominent industry players unveiled the formation of the AI Agent Foundation (AAIF). This initiative, facilitated by the Linux Foundation, is dedicated to the joint development of open-source technical standards for AI agents. The foundation's foundation rests on three pivotal projects: Anthropic's MCP protocol, OpenAI's design blueprint for AI agents named AGENTS.md, and Block's on-device, open-source AI agent, Goose. Leading tech corporations, including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Bloomberg, stand as founding members or affiliates of this groundbreaking foundation.
