On December 3 (local time), Meta successfully lured away Alan Dye, Apple's premier design executive. Since 2015, Dye has held the position of head of Apple's user interface design team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the design of Apple's operating systems, applications, and hardware offerings. Dye is set to officially commence his new role at Meta on December 31 as Chief Design Officer. In this capacity, he will be responsible for setting up a new design studio, supervising the design of hardware, software, and AI-integrated interfaces, and spearheading Meta's AI transformation in its consumer hardware division. Meanwhile, at Apple, seasoned designer Stephen Lemay will step into Dye's shoes and take over his responsibilities.
