On December 1, 2025, the Doubao team at ByteDance released a technical preview version of the Doubao Mobile Assistant, clarifying that there are no plans to develop its own smartphone and that it is currently in discussions with multiple smartphone manufacturers for ecological cooperation. Based on the Doubao large model, the assistant collaborates with smartphone manufacturers at the operating system level, allowing users to activate it via voice commands, side buttons, or the Doubao Ola Friend earphones. It features visual perception, long-term memory, and cross-application operation capabilities, enabling tasks such as ticket inquiry and booking, as well as product ordering. The assistant also supports on-device memory, screen perception, global memory, and other functions, automatically invoking system tools to complete complex tasks. Currently, developers and tech enthusiasts can experience it on the engineering prototype nubia M153, a collaborative effort between Doubao and ZTE.
